The problem we started from

Import restrictions imposed during the 2022 economic crisis pushed used vehicle prices to multiples of what they were worth before it. Leasing asks for a substantial down payment and a commitment measured in years. Insurance, the revenue licence, servicing and depreciation all sit with whoever holds the registration.

Meanwhile daily rental is built for tourists on a two week holiday. Someone who needs a vehicle for four months, a contractor on a project, a family waiting on a repair, a returning expat, is served badly at both ends.

And a large number of privately owned vehicles sit idle for most of the year.

What we built

Owners list a vehicle that is not being used. Renters subscribe to it for one, three, six or twelve months and pay a single monthly amount that bundles insurance, servicing and a mileage allowance. No down payment, no lease, no resale risk.

The multi-month term is what makes the owner side work. One subscriber for six months is a fraction of the handovers, cleaning, coordination and risk of sixty daily rentals.

What we are strict about

Comprehensive insurance carrying the rent-a-car loading is legally required for this kind of hire, and a great many private listings quietly lack it. We record every policy with its expiry, warn owners before it lapses, and withdraw the listing on the day it does. Being the platform where the paperwork is actually correct is the point, not an overhead.

The same applies to people, on the side where nobody is watching. An owner verifies their identity before a vehicle of theirs is listed; a renter is checked in person, by the owner, at the moment the keys change hands. The deposit is shown on the listing before you book, so it is never a surprise at handover. Handovers are recorded with photographs and signed by both parties, so a damage dispute has evidence behind it instead of two conflicting memories.

The name

මාසික means monthly in Sinhala. That is the whole product in one word.
